CHRISTIANSBURG, VA, January 15, 2003 - Businesses looking for a technology partner call CCS-Inc. CCS-Inc. stands apart from other computer providers because they take the time to know and understand
their customers’ business. According to William D. “Dave” Miller,
President of CCS-Inc., this thorough examination allows CCS-Inc. to
design and provide solutions to accommodate the client’s current and
future needs. Miller adds, “We talk to a client about what they need.
We then design a system and do the research to find the right
components. We also talk to our suppliers. We do everything we can to
understand what a customer is doing – what problems they are having. We
may not be the cheapest up front, but our knowledge and expertise make
us the best value for our partners which saves money in the long run.”
CCS-Inc. has formed strategic partnerships with industry
leaders to offer customers a number of advantages. CCS-Inc. is one of
only five Microsoft Gold OEM partners in Virginia. In addition,
CCS-Inc. is an Intel Premier Provider, a Cisco Premier Provider and an
HP and Compaq partner. Because of these relationships, CCS-Inc. gives
customers lower product lead times, discounted pricing, increased
technical support and access to new technology.
Based in Christiansburg, CCS-Inc. was founded in 1981 by Ted
and Priscilla Fleshman as Comprehensive Computer Solutions. CCS-Inc.
also has a satellite office in downtown Roanoke. Recently the company
changed its name to CCS-Inc. to better incorporate the work of its
three divisions. The first division, CCS-Industrial,
specializes in design, engineering and lifecycle management for rugged,
rack mounted, computer systems suited for extreme environments.
CCS-Inc. is ISO 9001 certified to the 2000 level standards.
CCS-Software offers QualTrax web-based document management
software. CCS-Inc. first developed QualTrax to manage document flow
internally as they were pursuing ISO 9000 certification. Miller says,
“We recognized we had perfected it to the point where it could be
marketable.” The customizable software, which manages documents,
provides email alerts, creates workflows and can track training, is now
being sold globally. Around CCS-Inc. there is a saying that “the sun
never sets on QualTrax.”
Miller describes CCS-Technology as “the heart of
the company” in the sense that this is where the company began. The
group provides “hands-on” technology for organizations like First
National Bank and Roanoke City Public Schools. In August, technicians
from CCS-Inc. set-up 238 computers in three days to meet the needs of
the school system. They took them from the box, setup, networked and
had them running just in time for classes to start. CCS-Technologies
also assists businesses with videoconferencing, telephony, and
technical support and maintenance.
Miller believes the name
change “gave us the synergy we needed. It reminds our customers and
employees that CCS-Inc. is not three separate divisions but one company
that does diverse things.”
The change agrees with the company. In the last year, CCS-Inc. has earned three prestigious awards. The group is the 2002 New Century Technology Council’s High Tech Company of the Year.
This award acknowledges outstanding commercial growth and achievement
by an established technology company. CCS-Inc. also received the 2002 Western Virginia Better Business Bureau’s Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics
for promoting ethical practices and a willingness to keep the
marketplace fair and honorable. The Roanoke Regional Chamber of
Commerce awarded CCS-Inc. the 2002 Small Business of the Year Award in Technology for the company’s resilience, growth, innovation and contributions to the community.
Miller credits co-owners, Ted and Priscilla Fleshman, for creating a
“company culture filled with exceptional people who are hard working
and enthusiastic.” Amy Ankrum, Director of Marketing for CCS-Inc., says
the company happily supports the President’s Advisory Committee, an
all-volunteer group that plans and organizes support for community
service projects such as the Christmas Store, the Lions Club, Food
Pantry and the Women’s Resource Center. Miller adds, “We have a unique
family here. One of our core beliefs is that we feel we are fortunate
to live and work in the United States. We want to give a little back to
the community.”
