ROANOKE, VA — CCS-Inc., an ISO 9001:2000 certified company, won this
year’s prestigious Entrepreneur award given by Governor Mark Warner.
CCS works with customers to design and implement global technology
solutions for use in industrial, educational, government and business
applications. Based in Christiansburg, VA, CCS is a small, woman-owned
business consisting of three divisions: CCS-Industrial, CCS-Software
and CCS-Technology.
CCS was founded in 1981 by husband and wife team, Ted and
Priscilla Fleshman. It was their entrepreneurial spirit that grew CCS
from a two person operation to the 68 person, $22 million global
technology company it is today.
The Entrepreneur Award recognizes the enterprise that exemplifies
the Virginia entrepreneurial spirit through use of technology to grow
into new markets, to markedly increase jobs inside the Commonwealth of
Virginia, and participate in local or regional business associations
and activities, such as chambers of commerce or regional technology
councils.
The Entrepreneur Award was one of 6 award categories presented
at The Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center in Roanoke, VA. The
Governor’s Technology Awards program, held in partnership with the
Virginia Technology Alliance (VTA), recognizes excellence, innovation,
and effectiveness in using technology to improve the lives of
Virginians, increase the efficiency of government, and encourage
technology-based economic development throughout the Commonwealth.
Virginia Secretary of Technology George C. Newstrom and VTA President
Paula Gulak presented the awards on behalf of Governor Mark R. Warner.
“I am delighted to recognize the 2003 winners of the
Governor’s Technology Awards,” said Secretary Newstrom. “These award
winners come from all parts of the Commonwealth and are truly
representative of what Virginia has to offer as a leader in the global
digital economy.”
Last year CCS was recognized locally for its growth, innovativeness,
business ethics and community involvement, winning the New Century
Technology Council’s High Tech Company of the Year Award, the Western
Virginia Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics and
the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Award for
Technology. In 2001, CCS was named to the “Fantastic Fifty” list of the
50 fastest-growing companies in Virginia. CCS specializes in wireless,
IP telephony, custom OEM, networking, security and document management
software solutions.
